The city of Derry/Londonderry (population 72,334) is
situated in the north west of County Derry/Londonderry. It lies
at Northern Ireland's western border with the Republic to the
west, and it straddles the River Foyle, which runs into Lough
Foyle.
Museums
Tower Museum in Derry Craft Village tells the story of the city.
Foyle Valley Railway Museum, just outside the city walls by
Craigavon Bridge, tells the story of the narrow gauge railway
that operated in the north west region of Ireland during the
early 1900s.
Harbour Museum, in the old Londonderry Port Building on Guildhall
Street, highlights Derry's maritime history.
Other
Attractions
Located
right in the heart of the city centre, Derry Craft Village is
a unique development portraying life in Derry from the 16th
to 19th centuries.
It contains a number of craft shops selling Derry crystal, hand-woven
cloth, and other handcrafted items.
The
old city walls and gates (1613-1618) are the only intact city
walls in Ireland.
The Fifth Province interpretative centre in the Calgach Centre
on Butcher Street relates the city's Celtic history.

Transport
The
City of Derry Airport is about 13 kilometres east of the city
on the A2.
There are 19 express buses to Belfast, and there are several
buses a day to Letterkenny, Sligo, Galway, Limerick, and Cork.
Feda O'Donnell (+44 141 6313696) runs a bus service between
Glasgow and Letterkenny that stops in Derry.
Lough Swilly Bus Service (+44 48 71262017) provides connections
with towns in Donegal.
There are six trains a day to Belfast. However, the bus service
is more frequent and an hour faster.
Local buses leave from Foyle Street in front of the bus station.
Shareable black cabs that serve outlying suburbs also pick up
here.
