Coleraine (population 20,721) is home to the University of Ulster. http://www.ulst.ac.uk/campus/coleraine/. The university's 4,500 students live in and around Coleraine, which has a pedestrianised town centre with plenty of shops.

Attractions
Some of the following are likely to be postponed or cancelled as a result of the foot and mouth crisis.

The Coleraine International Choral Festival is held at the university.
It was supposed to be held on March 23-24 in 2001, but it was postponed.

Coleraine Music Festival is scheduled for March 14-30 in 2001.

Coleraine Irish Folk Dancing Festival is scheduled for April 3-7 in 2001 in the town hall.

The North West 200 motorbike road race is scheduled for 19 May in 2001.

There are several golf clubs within easy reach along the northern coastline.

There are just a couple of B&B's and one hotel in the town itself.

Transport
There are buses and trains to Belfast and Derry/Londonderry and one bus a day to Dublin, via Armagh and Monaghan. There is a good local bus service, serving the nearby coastal towns of Portrush and Portstewart.
