Newcastle
West (population 3,618) is situated in south west County
Limerick between Limerick City and Tralee.
Attractions
Desmond Banqueting Hall, a well-preserved part of a collection
of ruined buildings belonging to the Fitzgeralds, (or Geraldines).
The Fitzgeralds, also known as the Earls of Desmond, were the
most dominant Norman clan in Limerick.

The International School of Celtic Languages www.celticschool.com
in Gortboy provides tuition, accommodation, and a social and
cultural program for non-natives who want to learn English.
It also provides foreign language classes, computer training,
and Internet facilities for locals.
There are two golf clubs: Newcastle West Golf Club in Ardagh
and Killeline Golf Club, next to the Killeline Lodge & Leisure
swimming pool and gym.
There is another swimming pool in the town, and the Woodveiw
Riding Centre is in Dually.
Transport
There are eight Bus Éireann buses to Limerick, eleven
in the summer. Most of these go on to Dublin.
