
East Cork is
home to some of Irelands best leisure
facilities set in this picturesque corner of Cork
County. A real beauty spot offering visitors a
wide range and choice of both outdoor and indoor
activities. There are
several golf courses in the area. The Woodview
Golf Driving Range in Jamesbrook is very
popular and is set in breathtaking scenery near
East Ferry. The two golf courses in the immediate
Midleton area are the East Cork Golf Club
and the Water Rock Golf Club,
being a non-member course, all players have equal
status.
Water sports in
East Cork include shore and lake fishing, deep
sea angling, sailing and wind-surfing. One of the
best known sea angling centres in Ireland, The
Ballycotton Angling Center provides the
fishing enthusiast the opportunity to experience
first class deep sea angling. Lough Aderry is a
popular fishing spot. The lake, on the Cork -
Youghal angling and is stocked with brown and
road, is excellent game rainbow trout.
Midleton enjoys
the proximity to the beautiful beaches of East
Cork - Inch, White Bay, Ballybrannigan and the
Blue Flag beach of Garryvoe to name a few.
Ballynamona is a sought after bird sanctuary
which continues onto a pretty sandy beach. Up to
20,000 wildfowl and waders have been recorded
here at the one time.
The Dunsfort
Riding Center at Midleton provides both
indoor and outdoor arenas for equestrian
pursuits.
Family fun can
be found at the Trabolgan Holiday Village
with something for all ages. Situated on 140
acres of beautiful countryside, this cleverly
designed resort has abseiling, aeroball, archery,
bowling, golf, quadbiking, plunge pool and a
sports center.
The Midleton
area offers a wide choice of excellent
accommodation with four-star hotels, guesthouses,
town and country homes, farmhouse accommodation,
self-catering, caravan and camping parks. Only
twenty minutes from Cork City, Midleton is
accessible by road on the main Cork to Waterford
road.
