Located 15 miles East of Cork on the main Cork to
Waterford road, only twenty minutes from the
center of Cork City, Midleton is a highly
desirable location for business. This self
sustaining, multifaceted town not only boasts of
a very active and successful business sector but
also has a good community directive.( The
Midleton UDC is one of the few Urban Councils in
Ireland to still provide school lunches for local
Primary Schools.) Traditionally an
agricultural area, the rich surrounding land
still supports the local meat and whiskey
distilling for the Irish Distillers Plant
in Midleton town.
A great
diversity of business activities are to be found
in the Midleton area. The four chief areas are
related to tourism, retail, services and
industry. Most of the electricity supply for
Ireland comes from the Aghada Generator
Station, which also provides power for the
substantial on and offshore oil refineries at
Whitegate.
To the west in
Carrigtwohill is the IT ( electronics and
computer) and pharmaceuticals manufacturing
center for East Cork.
Shanagarry is
well know for the Steven Pearce Pottery
and the Ballymaloe Cookery School, both
internationally renowned success stories in their
own right. Darina and Tim Allens
residential Cookery School attracts students from
all over the world. Darina also has presented her
Simply Delicious cookery series on
RTE (Irish Television).
The town of
Midleton has a varied range of excellent retail
outlets for visitors to the area. Well known for
stylish fashion boutiques, select restaurants,
pubs of character, Irish craft shops and all town
amenity provisions. Tourist facilities are second
to none, accommodation catering for all levels,

all round family resort at Trabolgan.
