| This thriving
and picturesque town is situated on the Owenabue
River. Carrigaline is a satellite town of Cork
City, but it is, in it's own right, both a
bustling commercial centre and an attractive
location. It is surrounded by the stunning
countryside of a typical County Cork river
valley. The town forms
the entrance to Crosshaven with its splendid
water sports facilities including fishing and
sailing of every description from dinghy to ocean
going racing yachts.
The population
of Carrigaline is nearly 7,000, with a further
250,000 people within a half hour drive of the
town. It is ideally situated for the Port of Cork
(15 mins) and Cork Airport(10 mins).
There is a
vibrant social scene with excellent restaurants
and pubs, catering to all tastes. The town is
also home to Carrigaline Pottery, part of the
Stephen Pearse company, where the most beautiful
traditional and contemporary work is produced for
the home and export markets, which can also be
purchased in the factory shop.
Carrigaline has
developed successfully over the last decade with
significant commercial investment bringing jobs
and prosperity, but augmented with controlled
planning achieving an important balance between
development and protection of the environment.
There is a well
managed local infrastructure with excellent road
links, health care and education. There is an
excellent source of highly educated and skilled
employees at the nearby educational institutions
of University College Cork and Cork Regional
Technical College.
